Unrelated events can sometimes be intertwined in ways only meaningful to the human mind. The Seahawks are having a fantastic season and there is much of this going around. "The Hawks win every time I wear my lucky socks" as an example. In the course of the many and varied factors that effect the results of a Football game, the logical mind knows that a pair of socks on a fans feet will not have any impact. The human mind is beautifully unlogical though, and such flights of fancy are normal.

One such crossing of unrelated facts happened today. On the day that Xavier passed away, a young police officer had to deliver the news. Officer Rodriguez was very kind and human in his duties. Far beyond what I would have expected given his occupation. I have often wondered how a civil servant copes with these events. I hope for their souls that they never get used to it. I prey for their hearts that they know survivors appreciate the courage it took in the telling.

Today, on Xavier's birthday, that same officer pulled me over in my own driveway. I was towing a non-running car from the front of the house to the back at night, during a week with multiple burglaries in my quiet town. There is no causality between those facts outside of my own human mind. It was just a stacking of probabilities that came up `heads` repeatedly.

I am happy for the random. It allows my mind to feel connections even when there are none.
